We won the court on March 15, 2019 (Nikulinsky court of the city of Moscow). There is no information on the Internet about the rights of passengers when a flight is canceled, but there are a lot of these rights in fact!

They took three tickets on the route Moscow-Warsaw-Moscow (me, husband, daughter). The airline canceled the reverse pace, which notified us three weeks before departure. They suggested that we postpone the date of return from Warsaw two days later. We could not agree to this, since, firstly, our work week began, and secondly, the Schengen visa was ending. I told the operator about all this, phoned the airline, and asked to transfer to any flight but on the date we need (according to the purchased return ticket). I was denied. They offered a PARTIAL refund for a flight canceled by them.

Since to fly in any case, we urgently purchased tickets on the same route from another airline for significantly more money.

Representatives of Ural Airlines did not appear at any of the court hearings, but they sent a letter asking them to reduce the fine laid down by law for the fact that the case was not settled before the court, and also accused us of trying to enrich themselves at their expense. At the same time, for almost a year, the airline withheld the money received from us for the canceled flight.

As a result, we won the case. I am writing for those who find themselves in the same situation, what exactly is prescribed to you by law:

1. Full compensation for all tickets

2. Payment of the price difference for the ticket that you are forced to buy in exchange (on the same route and on the same dates)

3. Paying a fine of 100% of the price of the ticket for holding money over time

4. Payment of a fine for non-compliance with the terms of pre-trial settlement of the dispute

5. Compensation for non-pecuniary damage to all passengers

6. For flights from EU countries, a fine of 250 euros per passenger (if canceled 14 or less days before departure)

7. Reimbursement of legal expenses

Unfortunately, most of us are not aware of our rights, and the company takes advantage of this. It is much easier for them to lose one court, because the income from those who did not go to court when the flight was canceled is 1000 times higher and will easily cover all expenses.

It is no secret that Ural Airlines constantly cancel flights, violating the rights of passengers. The question remains open, but how do they manage to avoid responsibility for such actions?

Ural Airlines summed up the preliminary results of 2017 and calculated the production indicators of the work done and the results achieved.

8,000,474 passengers chose the airline for their travels in 2017 (+ 24% by 2016). The airline transported 4,624,030 people on domestic airlines (domestic flights), 1,884,062 people on international airlines (MVL), and 1,492,382 people across the CIS countries.

In total, 55 681 flights were completed during the year, including VVL - 32 993, MVL - 11 959, CIS - 10 729. Passenger turnover grew by 25% and amounted to 19 196 918 million passengers. km., indicators of cargo transportation also showed an increase of 11% - up to 18 667 305 kg.

In 2017, the airline's fleet was replenished with five aircraft, of which two aircraft - the new generation Airbus A321. At present, Ural Airlines' fleet consists of modern and comfortable aircraft of the European Airbus concern of the A320 family. The carrier annually acquires new airliners under operational leasing, at the moment there are 43 of them (23 - А320, 13 - А321 and 7 - А319). In 2018, it is planned to acquire seven more aircraft.

In 2017, Ural Airlines passengers got the opportunity to travel to new both domestic and international destinations. Such cities as Warsaw, Venice, Catania, Verona appeared on the airline’s flight map. Among the domestic destinations, it is worth noting new flights from Yekaterinburg to Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk and Yakutsk.

The airline currently has 3,348 employees, of which more than 1,500 are flight attendants and 500 are pilots. All employees have stable social guarantees thanks to the activities of trade unions and the initiative of airline management. Bonus tickets can only be purchased on the airline’s website in the Wings program’s member area. You can use any amount of bonuses from your bonus account when paying the fare (ticket price excluding fees), and pay the rest of the fare (ticket cost excluding fees) by credit card. If there are enough bonuses in your account, the discount can reach the full price of the fare (ticket price excluding fees). The cost of fees and additional services is paid in Russian rubles.

It is possible to get a ticket, get partner services for bonuses if you have at least 1 qualification bonus (bonus received as a result of a commercial flight)  on the account of the Wings program participant.

  • In case of partial payment for a ticket on the airline’s website, bonuses available for payment are only payment by Visa and MasterCard, mixed payment methods, including “Thanks from Sberbank” bonuses, are not applied in this case.
  • In case of partial payment with bonuses on the airline’s website, a ticket is issued separately for each passenger. Air tickets for children under 2 years of age are charged for an already purchased ticket at the company box office or by calling a passenger support service.

If there are not enough bonuses for issuing a ticket, or if there are no qualification bonuses, a participant of the Wings bonus program can purchase a certificate for qualification bonuses in the Personal Account on the Airline’s website. It is possible to pay for the certificate on the site with a Visa or MasterCard credit card in the member’s personal account.

The certificate can be purchased both for yourself and for any third party, and registration of the third participant in the Wings program is required strictly prior to acquiring the certificate.

  Ural Airlines has stopped flights from Zhukovsky to Paris and Nice since May 18, 2019. Passengers are offered to change the route or issue an involuntary return of tickets. About this on the official website of the carrier.

Flights are canceled due to the position of the French aviation authorities, which consider Zhukovsky as the fourth airport in the capital. Air traffic between Moscow and France is regulated by international treaties, under the terms of which Russian airlines can fly only from three capital air harbors.

Due to such a demand, Ural Airlines was forced to make an interim while flying to Paris in April this year, which caused great discontent among passengers counting on a direct flight.

  Unable to transport customers on previously announced routes, Ural Airlines canceled flights from Zhukovsky Airport to Paris and Nice on May 18, 2019.

For customers who have already bought tickets in these areas, the carrier offers to make a forced return or change the route: instead of Paris, fly from Zhukovsky to Prague or from Domodedovo to Bordeaux, and instead of Nice, from Domodedovo to Montpellier.

In the opposite direction, flights are offered from Paris to Zhukovsky with a stop in Prague or without a transfer from Bordeaux to Domodedovo. From Nice to Zhukovsky with a stop in Prague and directly from Montpellier to Domodedovo. Flights to / from Bordeaux are available from June 1, to / from Montpellier - from June 2.
