Tolo is a relatively small but cozy town, which is located on picturesque island Peloponnese, in its most eastern part. Hundreds of foreign tourists come here every year.

And also it will be interesting for many to visit the incredibly picturesque, beautiful villages of Kalavrita and Kefalari.

Going on a trip to Greece, you should definitely visit Tolo, because there is not only a unique opportunity to spend a wonderful and serene vacation on the cleanest beaches of the Mediterranean, but also literally touch the amazing and very interesting ancient history of Ancient Hellas, feel how in ancient Greeks lived here, what they did, how they rested.

Such a walk will give a romantic mood, and you will definitely want to come back here more than once.

Despite the fact that Tolo is a relatively small tourist town, the locals are very hospitable and friendly, always happy to communicate with tourists. Also on the territory of the city there is just a huge number of small and large bars, restaurants, which prepare not only local dishes, but there are establishments with European cuisine, which is quite common for both comfortable hotels and local taverns.

lovers nightlife you won’t be bored here either, because there are many clubs and night bars in Tolo until the morning. Holidays in Tolo will give a great opportunity to enjoy the gentle and warm sea, lovers will be able to admire the delightful sunsets and sunrises, here the cleanest beaches and a fairly large number of different pleasures that provide a pleasant pastime.

Among the advantages of rest in Tolo can be attributed to the fact that it is simple perfect resort for a holiday with the whole family, including those with small children, who will have something to do here.

For active, beach and cultural holidays...
I love Greece for the sincere Greek hospitality of the locals, for the very tasty and healthy Greek cuisine, for its diversity of local nature and unique masterpieces of different eras, for its rich history and interesting traditions, for the amazing sea, sun and blue sky that I see every day))).
We spend every weekend and all summer in the Peloponnese, in Tolo and Nafplio, and I want to tell you about these wonderful towns.

If you would like to combine beach holiday with perhaps the best place, where you can combine everything - this is the resort of Tolo, which is located 10 kilometers from Nafplio, the beautiful city Greece, according to many guidebooks of the world.

For me personally, Nafplio is “Greek Nice”. This city has existed since the Mycenaean era, then for many years belonged to Venice. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is perhaps the only city in Greece that has preserved the charm of all eras. Three beautiful fortresses, streets where you can walk for hours on end, a colorful promenade with an amazing smell of the sea, parks, palm trees, flowers all year round... I can list the sights of the first capital of Greece for hours, but it's better to see it all with my own eyes....

And now about Tolo. The water in the sea here is crystal clear, like in the Maldives, and the sand on the beach and the smooth entrance to the sea are ideal for children of all ages (no wonder Greece is constantly included in the TOP-3 countries with the best beaches in the world).
Another thing I really like about Tolo is that there is both a beach and leisure. Windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving, snarkling, water skiing, yachting are available here, and in Tolo you can go for many kilometers of cycling or hiking along the picturesque coast. Finally, Tolo is chic for, because the world-famous masterpieces of Ancient Greece are nearby.

We ourselves in Tolo with my husband tried all kinds of activities. Either we will ride on a motor boat, or he and his son will go kayaking to the island with a small, pretty church, which is located near the beach. Diving, however, is an amateur here: the fish are not colored, as in Indian Ocean. good for beginners and kids, advanced in Tolo will be bored, the wind here is not very strong.

But Tolo is great for water skiing, but we don’t get off the “bananas”, flying sofas, circles and other children's fun at all. The prices for all these entertainments are more expensive than in Thailand, but they are also affordable for the average Russian wallet. On the beach last year, you could also try Thai massage for 20 Euro 45 minutes (I liked it))). You can rent a motorboat for 10-20 Euros per hour, ride all day on cool yacht- 80 Euro per person per day. There is a small port in Tolo, from where boats sail to the nearest islands - Spetses (a royal wedding took place on it last year), and Hydra ( amazing island with a huge number of cats, donkeys, and where there are no cars or motorcycles)))).

It is convenient to make excursions on your own in a rented car or scooter (offers for renting a car start from 180 Euros per week). You can go to Nafplio and ancient Argos, visit Ancient Mycenae, from where Agamemnon ruled Greece of the Bronze Age, the fortress of ancient Tiryns, where King Eurystheus sent Hercules to exploits, and, of course, the ancient theater in Epidaurus, which still surprises modern engineers with its perfect acoustics, and where a theater festival takes place in July and August. All this is located within a radius of only 10-30 kilometers from Tolo. And my husband and I, for example, always travel ourselves by car or scooter. good guide, map and go!
You can comfortably and inexpensively travel around Greece and by bus. A bus from Tolo goes every hour to the city of Nafplion (10km), and then to all major destinations in Greece.

If you have time and desire, be sure to visit ancient Olympia, where the legendary Hercules founded Olympic Games, the Corinth Canal with huge sheer walls over a narrow man-made strait, the ghost town of Mystras, in which the last Byzantine emperor Constantine XI Palaiologos was crowned, the largest underground lakes Europe and the caves of Diru - with a special microclimate and many stalactites. All these wonderful places can be comfortably reached from Tolo and returned on the same day.
So Greece, and especially the Peloponnese, is a godsend for lovers of adventure, ancient myths, history and romance.
Greece for !

I highly recommend going to Tolo with kids! Better places, where, it seems to me not to be found! Catamarans, kayaks, boat trips motor boats or on a big boat that takes you around the nearby islands, various water attractions and a children's water amusement park, a huge number of cafes and restaurants with cuisines of all countries and peoples (Greek cuisine, of course, prevails). The freshest vegetables, fruits, dairy products, meat and fish that you can buy at the markets in Nafplio or Tolo and remember how they really smell and taste without pesticides and chemical additives. Where else to relax with a child, if not here? No wonder the Greeks live the longest in Europe!

You can find a nanny in Tolo, but you need to worry about this in advance. Kindergartens are only Greek and private for 350 Euros per month. If you are coming for a few months and want your child to start speaking Greek as well, this is an option! My eldest son, having arrived in Greece at the age of 6, did not know a single Greek word. But having started going to a private kindergarten, he spoke Greek well after 3 months.
Where to eat?

The average bill in an inexpensive cafe, or as the Greeks say, a tavern is 5-10 Euros per person. In an expensive restaurant you can eat from 10 to 50 Euros per person (50 Euros if you take some very expensive fish and very expensive wine). You can also cook by yourself! There is no big market in Tolo, but there are many small shops and markets selling the freshest local village vegetables and fruits. The Greeks love themselves, and therefore pesticide vegetables and fruits from other countries are not brought to their country.
If you want a real big market, go to Nafplio. You will not regret! Every Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., all local peasants come there with their vegetables and fruits, and fishermen with their morning catch. I really like walking around the Nafplion market, smelling fruits and vegetables. Even if I don’t need anything, I still leave the market with several packages. In Greece, it is not customary to bargain (as in India, for example). But I personally tried, sometimes it worked))). Well, if you come to the market at 13.30 before it closes, then you can buy almost everything for 2 times cheaper. If you like fish, then it is here, at the market in Nafplio, that you can buy the freshest fish, squid, octopus, shrimps and other sea delicacies!

From fruits in Greece, almost everything grows, except for bananas and pineapples! In the district of Nafplion and Tolo there are a huge number of orange and tangerine groves (they ripen in November-February). And even in May, right on the streets of Tolo or Nafplion, you can see orange trees, strewn with both fruits and charming flowers.
Where to live?

Tolo has huge selection not only where to eat, but also where to stay! But if you are going to come to Tolo in July or August, it is better to book accommodation in advance, as the high season begins at this time and almost all of Europe flocks to Tolo.
In terms of housing in Tolo, there are 4 * luxury hotels with tennis courts and their own luxurious pools, and many inexpensive family hotels, and very convenient and comfortable campsites, and, of course, a large number of apartments that can be rented at a very reasonable price.
Accommodation in apartments is much cheaper than in hotels, but apartments are definitely worth booking in advance, as the best of them are readily sorted out in early spring by families from Germany, Italy and England.
In the high season in Tolo, there are a lot of people on the beach, but not crowded and comfortable. If you want to retire, there are also many others in the vicinity of Tolo beautiful beaches. If you rent a car, it will be very interesting to travel not only to historical sights, but also to nearby beaches, such as Plaka, Karasona and others.
For gourmets

With wine in Greece is wonderful. Greeks always drink wine! True, not like we have in Russia. A glass of wine with lunch or dinner is fine, no matter what age you are (children are an exception, of course). Homemade wine can be bought both in the market and in the supermarket. One and a half liters of very tasty homemade dry wine costs only one and a half to a maximum of three euros. Cheese is a separate story and tradition. Greeks almost always buy their cheeses in small shops where cheeses are brought from local villages... We eat feta and olives almost every day, but we only cook with olive oil.
Our compatriots in Greece

By the way, about 400,000 Russian-speaking people live in Greece today. Basically, these are Greeks who used to live in the USSR, and economic emigrants from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia. In Tolo, by the way, local Russian-speaking people are found, but very rarely, although there are already two Russian supermarkets in Nafplio, where you can buy absolutely all Russian products (from buckwheat porridge to condensed milk).
What about visas and air tickets?

A Greek visa can be done quite easily in 24 - 48 hours maximum. The cost of the visa is 35 Euro. It is cheaper to buy air tickets either on the Aeroflot website or from other airlines to catch special offers. If you are going to Greece only for 2 weeks, on the website inna.ru you can buy last-minute tickets to Athens for 150-250 Euros. Well, so average price for a ticket to Athens in the summer 300-350 Euro per person.
We will be very glad to see you in Tolo. Come with your kids and your parents....
Without a doubt, if you visit Tolo and Nafplion once, you will definitely want to come back here again.....

Fairy is simple. Firstly, upon arrival (and it was 8 pm) it turned out that they had overbooking. Those. no one bothered to call or write BEFORE arrival. Was offered a room at the TolonHolidays hotel, in their own management, within walking distance. "It's better, it's 4*, the fare is the same." Ok, don't argue. Shabby charms of this hotel will not describe. The morning began at 7.00 with endless knocking on the neighboring doors. And this is a group of schoolchildren from Britain in the "Luxury" hotel, and the teachers wake them up! All this went on for about an hour. At the end of a wonderful morning, they began to open our door with a key, and the maid entered. It's at 8.30 am. And I’m just what my mother gave birth to ... “Oooh!!” ... Well, yes, what’s there, right here. No one guessed to knock just in case. In general, this is all unpleasant, but something else is much worse. Namely absolutely indifferent reaction of managers. A? why, well, they didn’t let me sleep .. so they had already left, what have we to do with it? Oh, are you gone? Well, sorry. They shrugged. They also sent her herself, the poor fellow, to apologize later. What does she have to do with it? The management is disgusting, and such events - both the behavior of the guests and the mistakes of the staff. And no proposals at least somehow to make amends for all this disgrace. Zero!!! It just doesn't fit in my head. ! Thank God we came for 1 night.

The fact that some rate this hotel as 3+, in my opinion, is not true. This hotel justifies its 2 stars, but no more. 1. For a week and a half of our stay, bed linen was changed 1 time (towels were changed daily), which corresponds to a hotel of this category. 2. When we asked for beach towels (given free of charge), we got something about a meter long. It covered only half of the sunbed and the next day we asked to change them. The staff complied with our request and gave long towels, although with the proviso that there will be no more changes until the end of the stay at the hotel. We treated this with understanding. 3. Separately, it is worth mentioning the included breakfasts and dinners for additional fee. Breakfast consisted of the same set of dishes, the fundamental difference of which was that one day sliced sausages were added to the omelet, the second day the sausages lay next to the omelette, and on the third day they were not at all. In my opinion, this is due to the fact that in September the hotel is used as a place for transit overnight stays for groups of tourists from different countries(mainly from Poland) who travel by bus in Greece and it is simply unprofitable to arrange a rich breakfast for their owners. As for dinners, everything was more attractive here (2 types of hot dishes: meat and chicken or meat and fish), however, the work of the cook left much to be desired (the fish was constantly oversalted, and the beef was sometimes very tough) and I only had 1 time for everything time I wanted to say "eucharist" to him. At the same time, we were never hungry and the waiters were very friendly (during the stay of tourist groups they even put “reserved” signs on the tables by the window so that we, permanent residents, had a place for breakfast and dinner), so general impression positive.

The advantages of this hotel have been mentioned many times in the reviews posted here before, but I think we can repeat them again: 1. Just an ideal location for beach hotel. If you do not be stingy and take a room with a sea view (and you should definitely do this!), then you are guaranteed a wonderful mood during your entire stay, thanks to the magnificent sea panorama that opens from the balcony and the quiet splash of the waves right under your windows. The room in which we lived was equipped with two air conditioners - central (a little noisy, so they turned it off at night) and individual (new and quiet), so we had no problems with the temperature in the room. 2. We took a transfer from the airport and back. I really liked the driver who met us in Eleftherios Venizelos, his Mercedes car, as well as the driving style, thanks to which an hour and a half of the road flew by unnoticed. Well, the prices offered for the transfer by the hotel were lower than those of taxi drivers. 3. The hotel staff are wonderful people! Always smiling and quick to respond to questions and requests. One of the maids named Olga (in my opinion, with Ukrainian roots) speaks excellent Russian, so during the day you could meet her and explain in our "great and mighty" everything that caused you difficulty in communicating in English. 4. I do not agree with those who write about poor Wi-Fi in the rooms. We connected Russian television programs through the sites (there were none on the TV) and calmly watched news and other programs in high quality with virtually no image slowdown. We had 3 mobile devices working in our room at the same time and there was enough signal for everyone. 5. The street where the hotel is located is quiet and comfortable. The supermarket located opposite has everything you need for a holiday (food, drinks, related products).
